The land area is 2 sq km and has a population of 300 people. The atoll is a vegetated sand cay, flat and only a little above sea level. Access to the island is difficult due to a lack of good anchorages.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The inhabitants of the atoll are Polynesian are have ancestors in Tuvalu and Tonga. The language has both Maori and Tongan expressions. There is a type of filarial mosquito which is only found elsewhere in Tonga.  Sikaiana is the largest island with a length of 2 km, width of 900m, and a summit elevation of 45 m.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Three small western islands in the atoll are called Tehaolei (1km x 200 m), Matuiloto (400m x 100 m) and Matuavi (600m x 150m). The MP for Malaita Outer Island and Minister for Communications delivered the more than $100,000 consignment to the islanders on Friday ranging from canoes to solar panels.
